Olive Extract H

Contains lecithin and hydroxylated lecithin; structural particle size 0.1‑0.3 μm. It has a hydrophilic shell and hydrophobic core structure, encapsulating hydroxytyrosol internally; with multi-target activities of whitening, antioxidant and anti-inflammation

Documentation

Product overview

Rich in hydroxytyrosol, a potent whitening and spot-fading ingredient extracted from olive. Naturally derived, its structure resembles 4-butylresorcinol. It delivers strong whitening and spot-lightening efficacy without the irritation associated with 4-butylresorcinol

Mechanism of Action

1. Inhibition of pigment synthesis: Inhibit tyrosinase activity, block the conversion of tyrosine to dopaquinone and reduce pigment production.
2. Antioxidant effect: Scavenge reactive oxygen free radicals and reduce the oxidation of dopaquinone into eumelanin and pheomelanin.
3. Anti‑inflammatory & anti‑pigmentation pathway: Inhibit cyclooxygenase‑2 (COX‑2) activity to reduce prostaglandin release; modulate NF‑κB and lower melanocyte activation triggered by inflammatory stimulation.
4. Nanocarrier system: With particle size of 0.1–0.3 μm, it has hydrophilic shell and hydrophobic core structure. It loads hydroxytyrosol and assists active substances to act on different skin layers.

Experimental Data

1. In vitro melanin assay on B16 melanocytes: After 3 days incubation with 1 μg/ml Olive Extract H, melanin production is reduced by 51.5%.
2. COX‑2 inhibition test: Olive Extract H significantly inhibits cyclooxygenase‑2 activity.
3. NF‑κB inhibition test: NF‑κB inhibition rate rises with increasing concentration of Olive Extract H, reaching 90% at 4%.
4. Ex-vivo human skin explant test: Continuous treatment with 2.0% Olive Extract H over 7–28 days gradually reduces melanin at the basal layer of skin tissue.
5. Human arm skin ITA assessment: 20 subjects applied cream containing 2% Olive Extract H twice daily for 6 weeks. ITA angle increased from 20 to 45, skin tone grade improved from Grade Ⅳ to Grade Ⅱ.

Product specifications

INCI Name: OLEA EUROPAEA (OLIVE) EXTRACT, GLYCERIN, HYDROXYLATED LECITHIN, LECITHIN
Source: Developed under the guidance of Anhui Medical University. Sourced from olive, its core active ingredient is hydroxytyrosol. Oleuropein generates bioactivity after hydrolysis and converts into hydroxytyrosol.
Recommended dosage: 0.5‑10%
Appearance: Pale yellow viscous liquid, water-soluble

Key benefits

1. Multi-target whitening action; acts on three pathways simultaneously: tyrosinase inhibition, antioxidant activity and anti-inflammation to reduce melanin production.
2. Strong antioxidant capacity with outstanding ORAC oxygen radical absorption capacity.
3. Inhibits inflammatory pathways; suppresses COX-2 and NF‑κB inflammation-related factors to improve inflammatory response.
4. Hydrophilic shell and hydrophobic core structure facilitates penetration and function of active ingredients.
5. Water-soluble raw material, easy for formulation application.
