SDL(Sucrose Dilaurate + Sucrose Laurate)

Does not directly inhibit tyrosinase; targets HMGB1 protein, inhibits melanocyte dendrite formation and blocks melanosome transport to keratinocytes; the inhibitory effect is reversible with good cellular safety

Documentation

Product overview

Conventional whitening ingredients interrupt melanin formation pathways by acting on each node of melanogenesis. Sepiwhite MSH adopts a distinctive mechanism. Unlike traditional spot-fading principles, it inhibits HMGB1 protein to suppress melanocyte dendrite formation and block melanin transfer to keratinocytes. It restrains melanin formation at the source and reduces the formation of spots and acne marks

Literature & Patents

Supported by published research papers in the *Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (JEADV)*.

Mechanism of Action

1. Inhibition of HMGB1 release: SDL reduces the release of cellular HMGB1 protein in a dose‑dependent manner.
2. Inhibition of melanocyte dendrite growth: The downregulation of HMGB1 suppresses the length and branching of melanocyte dendrites.
3. Blockade of pigment transport: The transfer of melanosomes to keratinocytes is blocked, reducing pigment deposition and spot formation.

Experimental Data

1. HMGB1 release inhibition test: The release of HMGB1 decreases with the increase of SDL concentration in a dose-dependent manner.
2. Human spot area test: For formulation with 1% SDL, significant reduction in spot area fraction is observed at week 4, week 6 and week 8 compared with control group.

Product specifications

INCI Name: SUCROSE DILAURATE, SUCROSE LAURATE
Source: Literature reference comes from published studies in the *Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (JEADV)*. The core is a blend of sucrose dilaurate and sucrose laurate, targeting HMGB1 protein.
Recommended dosage: 0.5%‑2%

Key benefits

1. Novel whitening pathway; different from traditional tyrosinase-inhibiting whitening raw materials, it targets to block melanocyte dendrites and inhibits melanosome transport.
2. Inhibits HMGB1 protein release; reduces HMGB1 in a dose-dependent manner and suppresses excessive dendrite elongation and branching.
3. Reversible action; cellular status can recover after removal of raw material intervention, promising safety profile.
4. Human usage test improves lesion area; a 4–8 week treatment period significantly reduces spot area fraction.
